Hiway Credit Union Foundation, St. Paul, announced that it has awarded 18 $1,000 2020 Hiway Foundation Scholarships to area high school seniors. …University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management student Kevin Bubolz, a former U.S. Army helicopter pilot, has been named a 2020 Tillman Scholar, among 60 U.S. service members, veterans and military spouses named to the Pat Tillman Foundation‘s 12th class of scholars. … Arvig, a Perham, Minn., telephone company, announced it has awarded 36 $3,000 scholarships to area high school seniors through the Royale B. and Eleanor M. Arvig Memorial Scholarship.

Lyndsey Olson, city attorney for the city of St. Paul, has obtained a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. She officially graduated on July 24.Olson has served in the Minnesota National Guard since 2001 and is currently a lieutenant colonel and staff judge advocate for the 34th Infantry Division.

HEALTH CARE

Essentia Health, Duluth, announced plans for the area’s first Ronald McDonald House to be located adjacent to St. Mary’s Medical Center at 503 E Third St., Duluth. Ronald McDonald House provides families of young patients undergoing health care a temporary space to live at no cost.

HONORS

Spire Credit Union, Falcon Heights, announced it won six national awards including Excellence in Marketing – Community Outreach, and five Diamond Awards, from the Credit Union National Association. … Minnesota state Sen. Karla Bigham, DFL-Cottage Grove, received a 2020 Animal Advocate Award from the Animal Humane Society.
