Gallery takes art outside with light sculpture on Rice Street

Since COVID restrictions are keeping visitors out of small art galleries, the artists behind HERE Gallery on Rice Street in St. Paul are taking art outside. The gallery has a series of light sculptures starting this weekend at the gallery.

“Light Spa – Window Walk” is a light sculpture exhibition created by Minneapolis artist Brian Skalak, founder and chief creative officer of Second Sight Visuals, and artist Philip Noyed. The work is made from projections, lighting and other elements that “manipulate the light and activate the space,” according to a news release from the gallery. The work will be projected onto the windows and visible from the street from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 25-27.

This is one of a series of planned art projections at HERE, which owner/operators Chad Holliday and Chloe Rizzo hope to continue through the winter, according to the news release. Holliday and Rizzo create works from ceramics and glass at their home studio. They opened HERE at 882 Rice St. as a second studio and exhibition space.
