The Twins on Tuesday reinstated right-hander Homer Bailey from the injured list and have penciled him in to start Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers at Target Field.

Bailey, signed to a one-year, free-agent deal last winter, was placed on the 45-day injured list with biceps tendinitis after making on start, a victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. He allowed two runs on four hits and two walks and struck out four.

To make room on the 28-man active roster, the Twins optioned right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen to the alternate training site in St. Paul. Poppen has a 4.70 earned-run average and has 10 strikeouts in six appearances for the Twins this season
